At the start, the Fern teachers have been helpful, warm and welcoming to my little boy. They helped in settling him and tried to stick to routine the best way they can. Management took their time in the beginning to answer my questions and worries. Unfortunately, the ride fell short because in just under 2 months of my boy being in there, he was always sick. Twice with the same tummy bug in different times and a chest infection. I do understand the risk of kids getting sick in daycare but not as frequent as every 1-2 weeks! Firstly, the ratio for under 2's is 1:5- I find this unsafe despite this being a maximum recommended staffing ratio in Ministry of Education. Because of this, negligence can happen and routines or care plans aren't carefully followed despite verbally handing over or writing them down in the book. It would take me 3x to reiterate nap and feeding preferences or routines. It sometimes stressed me out because I had to deal with my cranky son when I take him home. Secondly, hygiene practices were concerning. I would find my son using someone else's dummy, his bottle cap returned to me as they apparently store bottles with no cap on, someone else's clothing in my son's bag, dummies stored in an organizer with the lid open for some time to name a few. Lastly, food safety. This was the tipping point for me as my son had suspected food poisoning (public health suspected so as well). All of my fears of getting my son into daycare have been materialized in this place. I have discussed these concerns with management and were open to investigation/dialogue but still claimed that kitchen was still up to standard. As much as I would like an external investigation to happen, removing my son from there was enough for me to move on from a somewhat traumatic daycare experience.

We recently visited this daycare, but unfortunately the experience was not very welcoming. The interaction did not feel very warm or engaging, and the teachers did not seem very open in interacting with our child. As parents, first impressions are very important when choosing a place for our child, and based on our visit we were not fully satisfied with the overall experience.

We are very happy and satisfied on how Busy Bees Hobsonville provide care and nurture our daughter. Teachers in Nikau and Fern are so awesome and incredible. They are very kind and friendly. They have suitable number of highly skilled staff who are sensitive and responsive to children. Rooms are always clean and organize. They have a well balanced nutritional diet and safe physical setting and well maintained environment. Good hygiene, health and safety for kids. My daughter is always excited to see her teachers and friends. Thank you to all the staff of busy bees hobsonville 😊❤️
