We joined the Akoranga family 6 months ago, and since then we have had a really positive experience with the centre. One thing that stands out is how approachable and caring the teachers are. They take the time to listen and genuinely make parents feel heard, which makes a huge difference. The teachers know the children well and are quick to pick up when a child needs a little extra support, encouragement or attention. We have seen firsthand how much effort they put into helping each child feel comfortable, included and confident. The learning activities are creative, age-appropriate, and support both educational and social development. It is lovely to see how much our child has grown in confidence and independence during their time at the centre. We highly recommend Akoranga Childcare Centre to any family looking for a nurturing, supportive, and high-quality childcare service.

We've been with the Akoranga family for 1.5 year and loving being part of it! It's a place where our daughter is truly seen, valued and supported respectfully as a little, curious, independent learner. We especially value the mixed-age setting where older and younger children learn from each other in a tuakana-teina spirit - the very natural way that children are nurtured and raised collectively and will benefit their life journeys. The vast outdoor space, garden area, and variety of playground equipment makes everyday a blast for our sporty little one. I particularly love the way the centre directors and kaiako are always looking for ways to enrich the inquiry-based curriculum, ensuring it reflects the diversity of the whānau while nurturing curious, confident, resilient learners. To us, what makes this centre even more special is that its non-profit feature - any surplus is overseen by a Board of Trustees made up of parents, teaching staff, and management representatives, and is reinvested back into the centre, where any funds go directly towards improving the environment and daily experiences for tamariki. Something that truly sets it apart from other centres in today's economy. As a previous children's librarian and now an early childhood educator locally myself, we would wholeheartedly recommend it to any family looking for a home-feel place where tamariki from all backgrounds can thrive.
