New Shoots Children's Centre - Westgate

Each year I have the privilege of visiting Westgate New Shoots for Preschool Portraits, and it is always an absolute pleasure. I’m made to feel so welcome—like part of the team—and I genuinely love connecting with the children and capturing their special preschool memories, including their class photos. It’s easily one of my favourite centres to visit throughout the year, and I always look forward to returning. From the moment you walk through the doors, you can feel that this is a centre filled with genuine love, care, and nurturing support from all of their incredible kaiako. The team create such a warm, welcoming environment where children feel safe, valued, and truly encouraged to be themselves. The learning spaces are thoughtfully designed and offer so many rich, engaging experiences for children to explore, discover, and grow through play. It’s clear how much intention and heart goes into creating an environment that supports each child’s development in such a meaningful way. We’ve recently enrolled our son at New Shoots Westgate and honestly, we couldn’t recommend it more highly. From the very first conversation with Mel, I felt completely at ease. As a first-time mum searching for care, I had so many thoughts and worries but she made me feel calm, reassured, and supported straight away. She even answered questions I hadn’t thought to ask yet. After organising a tour and meeting Mel in person, we felt such a sense of calm and such a beautiful, welcoming vibe from the entire centre and all the staff. Our son is in the Ngahuru classroom and he is absolutely thriving. A very special thank you to Lisa, Carissa, and Vivian you make every drop-off and pick-up such a positive experience. As working parents, you send us off each day feeling confident and reassured. The thoughtful updates and the care you show make every day feel magical, and seeing our son so happy and developing so beautifully confirms we’ve chosen the right place. Every single person at the centre is kind, warm, and greets you with a genuine smile. Thank you to everyone at New Shoots we are so grateful for everything you do 🤍

My son (3yrs old) has just finished his visits with New Shoots Westgate (1st full day is 23/02) After 1 day of visits he was ready for me to leave and come back. He is always excited for kindy (even on weekends) Food is prepared on site and always smells amazing (that I am jealous) The teachers are super lovely and they remember every single children’s names. It’s all open for children of different ages to interact with one another. I already love New Shoots
