Wakari Hospital Early Childhood Centre

THIS IS A REVIEW FOR THE WARD 9C I have a severely broken leg and ongoing mental health struggles, today i was discharged from the ward after staff told me they had received a phone call from the occupational therapist (OT) at habit health who had completed a home assessment and advised that it was safe for me to return home however this is not what i was told by the OT, after completing the assessment at my home, she specifically told me that it was not safe for me to return home until the equipment she had ordered had arrived and been installed, she also told me that she was going to contact ward 9c and inform them of this as soon as i returned to the ward after the home assessment i was told that i was being discharged immediately, i was given approximately 45 minutes to pack my belongings and leave, staff stated that the OT had cleared me to return home safely, which directly contradicts what the OT told me and the charge nurse at 9c i was discharged with a broken leg and relying on a wheelchair and walking frame despite having no home support and none of the required equipment in place, as a result i am unable to safely access my shower, reach items in my fridge, or use my kitchen because it is too narrow for my wheelchair and walking frame access and there is insufficient space to turn around, i am also unable to get in and out of my house independently due to steps at the entrance the ward staff were aware of all of these issues, yet they still discharged me after i had been an inpatient for just over two weeks, the OT had advised that the required equipment would not arrive until the following week to make matters worse when i was leaving the charge nurse attempted to argue that i was not allowed to take the wheelchair home, despite the fact that my acc case manager and physiotherapist had both told me that the wheelchair was mine to use and take home the care here is discusting, staff also repeatedly attempted to try and give me medication that had previously caused significant side effects, instead of addressing my concerns they appeared to prefer that i take anxiety medication (quetiapine) that leaves me heavily sedated and sleeping for over 19 hours a day.. this is not appropriate treatment to haf someone sleep there life away..
