We recently withdrew our child from this centre due to ongoing concerns about her safety and wellbeing. Over a period of a few months, she was involved in three separate biting incidents, all of which broke the skin. This occurred even after she had been moved up rooms for safety reasons, and one of the incidents involved the same child as a previous bite. During discussions with staff, the incidents were at times explained in a way that suggested our child’s actions contributed to being bitten, which we found concerning given she was the one being injured. And there was very minimal accountability taken by the staff who proceeded to avoid me on pick ups and drop off even though I had not been communicating with them about the issues but the centre manger. We also experienced repeated issues with her documented dairy allergy not being consistently managed, including her being given dairy on more than several occasions, resulting in eczema flare-ups and sore stomachs. In conversations with management, concerns around managing allergies did not feel to be taken as seriously as we would expect. While the centre did implement changes after these events, this only occurred after repeated incidents and after we had made the decision to withdraw and had given our notice. We understand that early childhood environments can be complex, however we believe consistent safety practices and allergy management are essential. Based on our experience, we did not feel confident that these were reliably in place, and would encourage other parents to carefully consider their options and ask detailed questions when choosing a centre.

Sunshine Ave was recommend to me by a work colleague when we were looking at care for our son. We looked at two different daycares during our search. Our first impression of sunshine that it well back from the road but had impressive outdoor facilities. We found it clean and well organised considering they deal with the number of children they have. I was impressed to find that enrollment costs covered not only food but also nappies which meant less stress for me. I have found the staff at sunshine dedicated and attentive to the children in their care. They upload plenty of photos of what my boy and his mates have been up to during the day. They have been very flexible and understanding to our needs around the days our son needs to be there etc. My mother, who has been teaching in Primary and ECE for over 50 years came with me on a drop off one morning to check out the place she got to spend some time talking to Ally about my son and how Sunshine operate. Mum left saying that if she had young children she'd send them there. I have found my son's growth at sunshine amazing. He's always happy arriving and is happy when I pick him up. I feel very comfortable sending my son to Sunshine.
